COOKING

"Ingrid & Vincent" chocolate cake

This cake has several qualities very important for a couple:

  1. It is quick and easy to make (= more time for kissing), but very good.
  2. It has chocolate in it!
  3. There is no need to beat the eggs, which also means more time for kissing!

For this cake you will need:

  • 150g black chocolate
  • 125g butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200g flour
  • 1 bag of backing powder

Let the chocolate melt in some lukewarm coffee or water. Mix while adding the butter, the sugar, the eggs, the mixture of flour and backing powder. Put in a round form and bake at 180° during 45 minutes.

DETOURS

Estonia

Where is it? Try searching by the Baltic Sea, somewhere between Russia and Scandinavia, Finland is just 80 km over the sea. Here one doesn't have to wait too long for the gifts on Christmas Eve! And you have plenty of time to go skiing, warm yourself in sauna, drink beer, light a lot of candles and have a Christmas dinner of sauerkraut and black sausages with the family. Or would you rather wait for the summer to sun-bathe on the innumerous beaches by the sea or lakes and in the evening see the sun going down and waking up three hours later, the short summer nights of the north.

Estonia is small, but it is actually bigger than Holland, with a population ten times smaller. That means everyone of the 1.4 million has space to be on ones own, it makes them a little individualistic, but leaves a lot of wild nature to discover.

Estonia is remarkable for being the second smallest nation in the world after Iceland to give university education in its own language. Tartu University, established in 1632, is one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe.

Alsace

Alsace is situated between Portugal and Estonia. Actually, some say it's in the center of Europe, others even assert Strasbourg is the capital of Europe!

Anyway, stuck between the Vosges mountains and the river Rhine, Alsace is a nice place to live. White wine, "tarte flambée", not forgetting other French "délices" like the baguette and the cheese, it's a paradise for the gourmet. Add to that its cute villages, its great forests and its romantic capital Strasbourg, and you understand why Alsatians are so proud of their little region so much coveted during the centuries.
