Education


If you don't have a lot of work experience, you should place this section immediately after the OBJECTIVE. An exception to this is if you have significant experience that is applicable to a career.

After you have post-bachelor's degree experience in your field, your work experience will be placed after the OBJECTIVE.


Presentation

Just include the institutions from which you have received a degree and list your highest degree first.

Standard way to present school:

  • name for school
  • degree
  • degree date
  • major
  • minor
  • different common tests (e.g. TOEFL)

Example:

CAPITAL UNIVERSITY, Columbus, Ohio
Bachelor of Science, May 1998
Major: Mathematics Minor: Marketing
GPA: 3.12/4.00

You can also include studies in a foreign country, awards and honours.


The Baccalaureate

It is equivalent to A level or to high school leaving certificate.

The Baccalaureate C can be described so: specializing in theoretical math and Physics
and the Baccalaureate F: specializing in electrical technology

Example:
Baccalaureate S (secondary level diploma with emphasis in Physics and Mathematics).

or
Baccalaureate 'E', French equivalent to 'A' levels, specializing in math, Physics and Technology.

If you were in a "classe preparatoire":
Two-year advanced course in theoretical mathematics and physics.


Example for ESTE

The degree is equivalent to a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).

A translation can be: Institute of Electrical Engineering Technology
or: College of Electrical Engineering Technology

Example:

ESTE (Ecole Superieure de Technologie Electronique), NOISY-LE-GRAND,France.

An Institute of Electrical Engineering Technology, offering a three-year course in Electronic Engineering leading to an internationally certified degree equivalent to a Bachelor of Engineering.

Common core studies include Mathematics, Physics, and basic technical subjects (Microelectronics, Power Electronics, Computer Science, and Automation).


Example for ESIEE

The degree is equivalent to...

Example:

ESIEE Paris, France (Ecole Superieure d'Ingenieurs en Electrotechnique et Electronique), a five-year college in Electronic Engineering.

Three-year common-core syllabus in Electronics, Signal Processing and Computer Science, followed by two years of specialization.
