Cheap petrol = bad apples…
Today we were shopping at one of the local supermarkets and we wanted to buy apples. Not all fruits grow in Estonia of course, but the ones which do, such as apples or strawberries are generally very tasty, although small. So naturally we were looking for Estonian apples in the supermarket. Well, out of probably 20 different sorts of apples, no Estonian ones but apples from Poland, France, Holland and even from China. What a screwed up world were you can buy apple from China in Estonia, but no local ones!
I’m actually not so unhappy that the price of gas has been increasing. At least it will make it less interesting economically to get everything from Asia. Considering the distance, it should not be so much cheaper to produce stuff in China than in Europe. It is an abnormality from our century that everything can be bought from much cheaper from the other side of the world, and this has only been made possible thanks to the a too cheap source of energy, petrol.
