Podcasts taking of in France
In two days, I have seen some of the best and worst examples of French medias using Internet. This weekend the radio I used to always listen to in France and still listen to often here with Internet streaming, Europe1, launched several daily podcasts with the best of their daily programs.
When podcasts started to appear, I was very excited, but I must say I haven’t found many that are worth my time more than the Europe1 morning programs. So I’m very happy to see this, and it’s nice to see big traditional medias using these new mediums instead of feeling threatened by them and trying to fight them.
As for the bad, French national channel France2 is showing currently a very good serie, Les Rois Maudits, some kind of mediaval thriller. We have the chance to receive France2 on cable in Tallinn, and have been watching it, like 8 millions French did. France2 wanted to use it to launch a their legal download platforms, but they screw it up with 3 Euros per episode (even more than iTunes). But worse, they limit the downloads to people living in France only. Of course it’s all already available as illegal downloads, and there are no country limitations there…
Update: It’s much worse than that, 7 Euros per episode, crazy.

I think France 2 also screwed up the movie. Compared to the book I really find it very bad.
