Skype on a 3G network

E-Plus is Germany’s third largest mobile phone network, and they have deployed a 3G network, something (finally) not so uncommon anymore. Where it gets more interesting is that they offer a flat-rate data subscription, something that exists in the US but still very rare in Europe. And at 40 Euros per month, it’s a pretty good price (Verizon EV-DO service in the US is at $80).

And the cool thing is that Skype will be bundled with it! The package is composed of a 3G PC-Card to put in your laptop, but some day there will be 3G phones running Skype too… But even limited to laptops, this is still very useful as many people are carrying laptops with them everywhere.
