A French broadband provider, Free, is very innovative, and I wrote about their triple-play ADSL modem before.

Now they are transforming it in a Media Center! Simply reboot your Freebox and it will download an update that allows streaming files stored on your PC, using a little free program to install in the PC.

Files that can be accessed from the Freebox include video files (Divx…), music and pictures. The Freebox is already plugged on the TV since it offers TV channels over ADSL since a while. It can also be plugged to the Hifi through a SPDIF plug. So you just get a Media Center for free!

Just amazing, and I really miss them since I left France 4 months ago.
