The Weblog of Vincent Oberle - Thoughts and opinions about technology and business

Blogging, a child dream, new face

In a few weeks my blog will reach its first anniversary! It’s a nice milestone and the experience has proven very interesting.

It is funny to note that when I was a child, something like 9 or 10, I made my own little magazine, with scissors, glue and pens. I wanted to be a journalist, and the only sad thing is that I didn’t have any readers except my teacher. Blogging gives me these readers and it is kind of fulfilling a child dream!

And contrary to my child paper magazine, blogs are much easier to make professionally looking. However the design of this blog hadn’t changed a lot since I started and it was feeling its age. It wasn’t as easy to read as it could have been, too wide and the font not completely right. So I found a Wordpress theme that I really liked for its simplicity and clean look and I adapted it to oberle.org.

Old blog design

Another new thing, you can see my face now! I enjoy reading blogs where there is a photo of the author, it improves its human aspect. So I wanted since a long time to add a photo here, but I didn’t have a nice recent one. So this weekend Ingrid took a lot of photos of me and then she picked the nicest one.

Note that my blog isn’t the only page that has seen a redesign lately. My Tintin pages got a modern look too and we also like the look of Ingrid’s Ohlala blog.
