The return of the exciting phones
When working in the industry, it’s sometimes difficult to get excited about new mobile phones. But with the new Nokia N91 there is really a phone packed with features that I would love to have.
Nokia thought at the user and put some things there in that have been long overdue: a 4GB hard drive, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, support for playback of MP3, M4A, AAC, and WMA audio files, and USB 2.0. That would already make it a great phone, but it also is a 3G phone (WCDMA), has Bluetooth and more surprising WiFi. The power management on such a phone must be a challenge.
Nokia also announced the N90, 2MP camera phone uses a quality Carl Zeiss lens. Exciting too, but I would be more careful waiting for the reviews to see the picture quality.
Update: Russel Beattie makes a good remark about the N91:
Will there be any demand from the carriers? It’s like the iTunes phone, but worse as it also has WiFi. Verizon is already crippling Bluetooth! A phone with WiFi? Come on!
