Et Cetera: SkypeIn, amateur movies, update on older posts

I’m not blogging a lot these days since I don’t have Internet access at home yet, but here are some of the news I noticed in the last days.

Skype launched their SkypeIn service, which allows you to get a normal phone number for your Skype account. Over at Skype Journal they have a few interesting stories of the use case this functionality could allow.

Russel Beattie had an interesting post about mobile form factors. He also complained about the complexity and inconstancy of some phones interfaces. I agree 100%. I got a Siemens S65 here and the interface is lacking consistency and overall quite complicated. One needs to be very comfortable with technology to be able to use all the features of this phone (but I guess most phones have the same problem today).

I have been writing before how users are not ready to deal with the evolution of digital photography and the huge amount of photos that they will soon have. This interesting article summarizes well the efforts the industry needs to do.

Is this device using the phone advantage that Microsoft should use to compete with Apple’s iPod?

On the Apple side, they launched some new iPod, decreasing the price of the iPod photo, and is going to sell a camera connector for it. I wrote that this should have been in the first version already, and why is it only an accessory? Should be standard.

Finally, this is pretty impressive, it’s a Star Wars movie made by fans. It looks really good, check out the trailer. Hopefully they make a version available online. And this Batman movie, computer graphics with Lego bricks as models, wow!
