The big move

Thursday, February 17th, 2005

Tomorrow Friday February 18th is my last day at TI. It isn’t without emotions that I’m leaving TI. It was my first job and I learnt a lot there. I’m very thankful to TI and my colleagues for that.
On the move side, I think we are all set. I was very organized so I think […]

3GSM impressions

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

I visited the 3GSM congress in Cannes today, the biggest congress in the world for the mobile phone industry. I took some photos of the coolest toys that I put on my Flickr page.
As always, many companies, many people. Not much changed in term of software and applications from last year. The software companies already […]

3GSM: Is the user back?

Monday, February 14th, 2005

The 3GSM in Cannes has started today, and as some predicted it, it’s going to be full of interesting products and news. I will myself go there and post about it (although with my move to Estonia/Finland coming, it’s not like I have lot of time).
Two announcements made me especially happy as they show that […]

About photo backups

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Now that I have a digital camera, I will implement following backup strategy.
First all photos will be on my laptop hard drive. I will make regular CDR backups, and when I run out of space on my hard drive, I will make a second CDR copy.
At this stage all photos will be in […]

My new camera

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Finally, we got a digital camera. We chose the Canon Ixus 40 (also called PowerShot SD300).

I had hesitated a lot with the Canon Powershot A85. The advantages of the A85 were a better picture quality, use of standard AA batteries and of CompactFlash for storage (since I already own CF cards) and cheaper price. […]

Freebox

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

I wrote about the French ISP Free and the Freebox before. I saw that the Wikipedia entry on Freebox was quite complete in French but not in English. So I made a translation that I post here. I also added it to the English Wikipedia.
The Freebox is the box provided by the French ISP Free […]

Et Cetera: It’s all about wireless

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Looking at how much there is about wireless on my link blog, it sounds like a good choice to stay in the same industry for my new job. Here’s a little link selection.
Symbian OS version 9 was launched. Many nice features, it should give us some cool Nokia phones.
On the other hand, Motorola will introduce […]

Bluetooth 2.0 in the new Powerbooks

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

A few days ago Apple announced an upgrade in its Powerbook laptops. People noticed the increase in processor speed (and absence of G5), memory upgrade, etc. but the introduction of Bluetooth 2.0 didn’t make the big news.
But Apple is the first to introduce Bluetooth 2.0 in a laptop. As The Wireless Weblog reports:

The new version […]

GMail invites flooding

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

While GMail is not yet out of beta and not perfect (but the spam issue I wrote about has improved a lot), Google apparently is distributing a lot of invites now. Myself I just saw I have 50, so if someone wants one, just drop me an email or leave a comment (your email will […]
