Et Cetera: Blogging in France, Podcasting, TV-B-Gone…
First, let me point out that blogging made the first page of a big French national newspaper this weekend (plus 3 full pages inside). France is really getting aware of blogging, or at least the French press (it’s a bit slower by my colleagues…).
I wrote about podcasting earlier. One of my favorite podcast is the Engadget one. Phillip Torrone and Lenn Pryor are making a very interesting show, that isn’t actually that geeky. They discuss quite a bit how technology is changing our lives and how some organizations don’t know how to deal with it. BTW Lenn and Phillip, if you want to expatriate to France don’t hesitate
Listening to the Engadget podcasts made me order a TV-B-Gone. It’s a little device that can turn off any TV (demonstration video). There will be a lot of fun playing with this…
If there is any Wordpress plugin developer listening, here is an idea for a cool plugin that I got reading this Troy Angrignon post. In general, I don’t like the way archives are presented on blogs, including my one. When I find a new blogger, I would like to read some of the older things he wrote. Therefore some kind of best-of link would be nice to have. The Wordpress plugin could simply add a little checkbox next to each post in the administration panel that would include the specified post on the best-of page.
Finally, I have been using a link blog since some time, where I put interesting stuff I read with little or no comments (I’m considering using del.icio.us for this, not sure yet). Two comments among more that I have put there:
- About Robert Scoble wise comments regarding the delay in WinFS: Being first / on time might be less important than being right and solid.
- About Extending the Enterprise With BlackBerry: Very interesting way to build a platform: Provide all the building blocks and ONE great app. The great app will open the door, the building blocks will allow you to stay in.
Ah, and I have a dotMP account now, vincent.mp. I will write about my experience later.
